Cindy (Hightman) Bloom

Cindy Bloom, 66, of Marengo, was born June 12, 1952 in Chicago to Theodore and Thelma (nee Gilwreath) Hightman. She passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 in Chicago.

Cindy was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter who deeply loved her family. She was of Cherokee descent and regularly provided classes in native studies and herbal medicine. She was an author, artist, activist, and devoted humanitarian. Her primary interests and life’s work included wildlife rehabilitation and natural habitat preservation. Daily she left the world a better place. She walked a path of beauty; inspiring and touching the lives of many.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Peter F. Bloom; her children, Tracy (Tim) Strepek, Tiffany (Chad) Elswick, and Nick (Laura) Bloom; her grandchildren, Zoe and Lucas Strepek, Ravyn and Siena Elswick, and Travis Bloom; and her brothers, Phillip (Diane) Hightman and Harry (Carrie) Hightman.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her stepmother, Chris Hightman.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
