Clarence “Ted” Kleinfelter, 90, of Crystal Lake, entered into eternal life Friday, January 31, 2014, at JourneyCare Hospice, Woodstock.
He was born October 31, 1923, in Tarentum, PA to the late Robert and Susan (nee Ulrich) Kleinfelter. Ted married Virginia Jonaitis on February 11, 1945, in San Diego, CA.
Ted served in the US Marines during WWII, and went on to have a long and successful career as a sales engineer for Plibrico. He was active in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Crystal Lake VFW Post 6004, Genealogical Society, gardening, painting, and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus with Council 3880.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, survivors include his children, Janice Petty of Mesa, AZ, Robert Kleinfelter of Woodstock, and Thomas (Kim) Kleinfelter of Maple City, MI; grandchildren, Alison (Matt) Morgan, Melissa (Jay) Ochwat, Marc (Kyrie), Kellen and Ben Kleinfelter; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Jane, and David Morgan, Kyle and Avery Ochwat; and Jacob, Max, Ella, Zoe, and Zach Kleinfelter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Kleinfelter and Dorothy Eatherly.
The visitation will be Monday February 3, from 9 a.m. until the time of Marine Corps Honors at 11 a.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. There will be a procession from the funeral home to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014, for an 11:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ted’s name to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, the charity of one’s choice, or Masses will be appreciated.
