Clarice J. Purvey (nee Miller),97, a longtime resident of Crystal Lake, died Monday, June 20,2011, peacefully at her home.
She was born July 11,1913, in Fox Lake to the late Joseph J. and Clara (nee Lay) Miller. She married the late Dr. John “Jack” C. Purvey on July 11,1933, in McHenry.
Mrs. Purvey was a loving and much loved mother and grandmother. She was a secretary at Crystal Lake Central High School for 20 years, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Service League of Crystal Lake. She was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed cards, golf, dancing, and musical theater and movies.
Survivors include her children, Patti Church of Elgin, Michael (Janet) Purvey of McHenry, Lynn (Ken) Bruce of McHenry, Alan (Sue) Purvey of Crystal Lake, and Peggy (Tom) Lozynski of McHenry; daughter-in-law, Lee Purvey of Crystal Lake; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Gerald (Louise) Miller of McHenry; many nieces and nephews; and her loving caregiver, Margaret Krysinska.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Purvey Jr.; sisters, Marie Morgan and Terri Wiles; and son-in-law, Donald Church.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
