Concetta (Chirchirillo) Guagliardo

Concetta Guagliardo (nee Chirchirillo), age 94, of Lake Zurich, IL, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023.

Concetta was born on February 21, 1929 in Alta Villa Milicia, Italy . At the age of 18 she immigrated to Chicago, Illinois with her father to establish a home for their family and began working at Florsheim Shoes.  Once established, and her family was safely here, she went back to Italy to marry her betrothed,  Giuseppe.  Together, they settled in their home in Chicago. She was an amazing self taught cook who enjoyed making homemade bread, pizza, pasta, panelle and Taralli cookies for her grandchildren.

Concetta will be deeply missed by her loving daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Brown (Guagliardo) and Josie Fongaro (Guagliardo); her grandchildren, Anna (Michael) Impastato, Anthony Fongaro, Robert (Jaclyn) Brown, Christina Fongaro; great-grandchildren, Rocco Impastato, Rosie Brown, Dottie Brown and Dominic Impastato, Cooper Brown and Enza Impastato; siblings Mary (Dennis) Baumann,  Frances Chirchirillo and sister in law Angelina (John) Guagliardo.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Giuseppe Guagliardo; her parents, Augustino and Josephine Chirchirillo; and siblings, Salvatore and Dominic Chirchirillo, Giovanna Restauro and Theresa Chiovari.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Concetta’s name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Lake Zurich to feed the poor and to the American Heart Association.

A visitation for Concetta will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 am until prayers at 1:00 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047 before processing to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 135 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047 for Mass at 1:30 pm. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
