Corliss Anderson

Corliss Dunlop Anderson, Jr. passed away peacefully in Barrington on March 12, 2016. A life-long Barrington, Illinois resident, he was born on June 6, 1931 to the late Corliss Doran Anderson, Sr. and Catherine Anderson (nee Dunlop).

Corliss graduated from Barrington High School in 1949. He then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the University of Illinois.

Corliss was an Eagle Scout, a Veteran of the U. S. Army, and a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He truly loved his profession as a real estate broker in Barrington, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed marketing and selling homes in his Barrington community.

He was a dedicated member of the Board of Directors of the Barrington Youth Services and the Buehler YMCA, past president of the Barrington Quarterback Club (1987), member of the Barrington Lions Club, Friends of the Barrington Area Library, VFW, American Legion Post #158, and Barrington High School Booster Club. Corliss enjoyed watching spectator sports at Barrington High School, especially baseball and football. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family at Torch Lake, Michigan.

Corliss is survived by four children, Heather Anderson, Jeffery (Ellen) Anderson, Stephen (Emily) Anderson, and David (Catie) Anderson; grandchildren, Scott, Elizabeth, and Claire Anderson, Decker and Owen Anderson, and Keelin Anderson; sister, Judith (Rev. Charles) Stuart; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Stuart Anderson; infant granddaughter, Caroline Hannah Anderson; and brother Brierly (Brigitte) Anderson.

His death, for his loving family members and countless friends, is an incalculable loss.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 1:30 pm until the time of memorial service at 4:00 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington.
