Cynthia Ann Sykes, 53 of Algonquin, formerly of Norridge
Funeral services for Cynthia Ann Sykes (nee Fifielski), 53, of Algonquin, formerly of Norridge will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave., Barrington. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. A reception will follow the service at the church. The Rev. Patrick Raymond will officiate. Burial will be private.
Born August 16, 1961 in Chicago, Cynthia lost her 12 year battle with cancer on April 3, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Cynthia graduated from Maine South High School in 1979 and from Harper College with an associate degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as a 911 Dispatcher for the Carpentersville Police Department for 27 years. Cynthia was an active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Barrington. A Chicago Cub fan, she also enjoyed traveling, camping, visiting museums and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Donald, whom she married in Mt. Prospect on Sept 18, 1982; children, Christopher (Emily) and Nicholas Sykes; grandson, Liam Sykes; father, Eugene F. Fifielski; sister, Gloria (Michael) Doherty; brothers, Charles (Lori) and Jim (Gary) Fifielski; niece, Jennifer Doherty; and nephew, Brian Doherty.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Townsend.
