Born June 20,1925, in Chicago, he passed away Jan. 11,2012, at his home.
Dr. Butcher was a 1950 graduate of Northwestern University Medical School and went on to practice radiology for 32 years at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, where he was Chairman of Radiology and Hospital Chief of Staff. He also served as a Navy medical officer in the Korean War.
Dr. Butcher was a member of the American Medical Association, a past president of the DuPage Medical Society. He enjoyed flying,tennis,golf, sailing, classical music, model trains, photography, bicycling, and boating with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruth (nee Kluender); children, James (Deborah) Butcher of Phoenix, Charles Butcher of South Elgin, John (Karen) Butcher of Centralia, MO, Elizabeth Ann (Bruce) Foreman of Kalamazoo, MI, and Carolyn (Edward) Albers of St. Charles, IL; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, fourth due in May; and his sister Phyllis Hartzler of Winthrop, Maine.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Albers; parents, Paul C. and Beatrice (nee Manchee) Butcher; and sister, Doris (Andrew) Patterson, and brother Robert Arthur (Nancy) Butcher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dr. Butcher’s name may be made to the church.

Funeral Service will be 12:30pm Sat. Jan. 14, at St. Matthew Luthern Church, 720 Dundee Ave, Barrington. Visitation from 12pm until the time of the service.
Interment in Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst, following the service.
