Daniel Dennis Fitzpatrick

Daniel Dennis Fitzpatrick, of Lake Barrington, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born December 7, 1935 in Aurora, IL, the son of the late John B. and Maybelle (nee McLaughlin) Fitzpatrick.

Dan began his education at Marmion Military Academy in Aurora before attending St. Norbert College and later Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Following his time at Creighton, Dan proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He later earned his master’s degree from Roosevelt University.

On St. Patrick’s Day in 1962, Dan married the love of his life, Donna Bisom, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Chicago. Together, they built a beautiful life in Park Ridge, raising five children as well as a foster daughter.

Dan and Donna were active members of the Christian Family Movement and Marriage Encounter. Their faith was central to their lives, and they were devoted members of Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Niles, later becoming 25-year parishioners of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley.

In 1981, Dan launched his own business, Fitzpatrick Sales, a venture that became more than a career—it was a lifelong passion that he never truly retired from.

A dedicated football coach and lifelong fan, Dan had a profound impact on many young athletes, particularly in Park Ridge. He was a constant presence on the sidelines, faithfully attending every game played by his kids and grandkids.

Above all, Dan was a man of deep faith, wholly devoted to the Holy Spirit, and guided by his unwavering spiritual beliefs throughout his life.

Dan was the loving husband to his wife of 63 years, Donna; great role model and father to Daniel Dennis (Barb) Fitzpatrick, Jr.; Dennis Devin (Julie) Fitzpatrick, Debbie Dawn (Erik) Doersching; David Dooley (Karen) Fitzpatrick, foster daughter, Cathy Adamson, the late Daneen Donna Berres, and the late baby Denese Donna Fitzpatrick; devoted Papa to Colleen, Cara, and Patton Fitzpatrick, Jack, Michael, Maddie, and Will Fitzpatrick, Erik, Jr. (Autumn), Matthew, and Emilie Doersching, Tommy, Conor, and Dillon Fitzpatrick, and Emma and Ryan Berres; and newly great-papa to Anthony Doersching.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Daneen and Denese; and his brothers, Jim and Jack Fitzpatrick.
