Darlene Aeverman

Darlene Catherine Aeverman (nee Schaefer), 70, a resident of Crystal Lake since 1965, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014, at The Springs of Crystal Lake.

She was born February 13, 1943, in Woodstock to the late John and Lovina (nee Brown) Schaefer. Darlene married Donald Aeverman on November 9, 1963, in St. Mary Church, McHenry.

Darlene worked for 28 years as a proofreader for Black Dot in Crystal Lake. She was a volunteer for Raue Center for the Arts, enjoyed ceramics and needlepoint, was an avid reader, and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family—especially her granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, Don, survivors include her daughters, Diane (Frank) Vadnais of Crystal Lake and Denise (Kurt) Baker of Oswego; granddaughters, Sarah and Courtney Vadnais and Alison, Brooke, and Cara Baker; brother, Robert Schaefer of McHenry; brother-in-law, Ken (GeorgiaAnn) Aeverman of Maumelle, AR; uncle, Walter (Phyllis) Brown of Washington State; aunt, Helen Schaefer of McHenry; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Edna (nee Anderson) Aeverman; sister-in-law, Gerry (Robert) Becker; and brother-in-law, Harold Aeverman.

The visitations will be Sunday, February 9, from 12-4 p.m., and Monday, February 10, from 9-10 a.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. There will be a procession from the funeral home to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., for a 10:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
