Darlene Wroe Horslev

Darlene Wroe Horslev, 84, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023.  Born on February 18, 1939 in Evergreen Park, IL to Robert and Roberta Phillips, Darlene was a radiant soul whose memory will forever be etched in our hearts. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished friend, and a vibrant member of her community.  Her life was a beautiful symphony filled with melodies of joy, love, and harmony.

One of Darlene’s greatest passions was music. She had an angelic voice that could touch one’s soul.  As a soprano, her voice soared to the heavens, and her music resonated with all who had the privilege of hearing her sing at church, weddings, funerals, nursing homes and even singing telegrams. She found solace in the sweet notes of music and shared this gift with everyone she met.

Additionally, Darlene was a former manager and longtime volunteer at Catchpenny (Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital). She dedicated her time as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Countryside Association (Little City) and was a proud member of D.A.R. as well as a former Lines School Nurse and School Aide.

Darlene will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 63 years, David, and their four children; Katherine (Terry) Lynch, Elizabeth (Phil) Gilbert, David (Tessa) Horslev Jr. and Jennifer (Paul) Stephani; grandchildren, Margaret and Joseph Lynch, Elena and Ava Gilbert, Bronwyn and Tegan Horslev, Jack and Abbie Stephani.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Rd.), Barrington, IL 60010. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
