Darrin Frederick

Darrin Scott Frederick, 46, of Crystal Lake, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Centegra Hospital, McHenry.

Darrin was born February 24, 1969, in Beaver Falls, PA to Cornelius “Neil” and Christine “Chris” (nee Hurbanek) Frederick. He married Robin Lynn Brokhof October 7, 1995, in St. Charles.

Darrin was a graduate of Northern Illinois University, where he earned his degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. He went on to become a Director of Food Safety at Centrella (Central Grocers, Inc.) in Joliet.

He was a member of the McHenry Road Pirates, who he considered his second family. Darrin was very active in his children’s activities. He enjoyed his son’s baseball, batting cages, ice fishing, camping, Boy Scouts, and shooting arrows and bb guns. He also enjoyed going to his daughter’s soccer games, coaching and watching her basketball team, and fishing with her.

Darrin loved riding his Harley Davidson Road King—especially with his wife, Robin. He enjoyed the gun range, the Pittsburgh Steelers, monster truck rallies, home and camping shows, working in the outdoors, being at home with his family, and dining out as a family.

Survivors include his wife, Robin; children, Kiley Lynn and Blake Scott Frederick; parents, Neil and Chris Frederick of Cortland; brother, Douglas (Pamela) Frederick of Huntley; mother-in-law, Esther Brokhof of Roselle; father-in-law, Robert Brokhof of Missouri; sisters-in-law, Lisa Brokhof of Orland Park, Denise (Curt) Sim of El Cajon, CA, Karla Christianson of Fox River Grove; brothers-in-law, Chet (Simone) Brokhof of Crystal Lake, William Brokhof of Boston, MA; and nieces and nephew, Nadine, Garrett, Jillian, and Vitoria Brokhof.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m., Thursday, March 19, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake. Inurnment will be private.
