David C. Banasiak, 60, of Chicago, recently of Barrington, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 21, 1961 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Ruth (nee Locke) Banasiak.
David was a technical writer at the American Veterinary Medical Association. He loved books, especially those about military history and worked part-time for many years at the reference desk of the Mount Prospect Library. David loved singing and acting and appeared in every performance of The Savoyaires from 2010 through 2019. He served on The Savoyaires board since 2012, including 2 years as president. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and enjoyed fencing as a hobby.
David will be deeply missed by his loving parents, Tom and Ruth; siblings, Susan (John) Young and Timothy (Mary) Banasiak; his nieces, Katherine Banasiak and Rachel Young. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Banasiak and his faithful cat, Fang.
A visitation for David will be held at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 9 AM followed by mass at 11 AM. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice on Tuesday, January 25 at 11 AM. Please meet at the cemetery office.
