David C. Beagley of Crystal Lake unexpectedly passed away while on a walk on Monday, December 10, 2012.
David Charles Beagley was born August 8, 1950 in Blue Island, IL, the child of Arthur B. and Alma (Engelhardt) Beagley. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Blue Island.
He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Western Illinois University in 1972, and a Master of Music from Michigan State University in 1977.
He was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Janice Eloise Ahlquist at Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Aurora, IL, on June 9, 1973. Their strong marriage lasted 39 and a half years and was an example of a loving partnership to all who knew them. God blessed them with two children, David R. and Jonathan E.
After graduation from Western Illinois University, David served in the 5th Army band from 1972-1975 where he played for the funerals of both former president Truman and Johnson. David served for 22 years as a band director in Round Lake, IL, 4 years in El Paso, IL, and 7 years in Mount Clemens, MI.
In retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of gardening, model trains, Civil War history, playing and teaching oboe, and traveling with his wife. He was active at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in many capacities, most visibly as a greeter almost every Sunday morning.
David is survived by his wife, Janice; two children, David R. (Liz) of Ames, IA and Jonathan E. (Callie) of Fairfax, VA; and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Arthur B. Beagley, Jr.
The visitation will be from 3-8pm, Friday, December 14 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be at 10am, Saturday, December 15 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 S McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake with visitation from 9am until shortly before the service begins. The Rev. Paul Schuth and the Rev. Larry Rubeck will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Tinley Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Music Fund.
