David Henry Bode

David Henry Bode, 76, of Crystal Lake, was born January 11, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Clement and Loretto (Schmitz) Bode. He passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Huntley.

David attended Loras college in Iowa.  He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea.  He began his career at United Airlines in customer service.  After many years of service, he started a new career at Wabash Data Tech.  He completed his career at Morton International in Woodstock where he retired early due to a disability.  He then, along with his wife, became a world traveler.

In 1969 he married Nancy and they have two children and three grandchildren.  David was a devout catholic and will be remembered for his quick wit and his sense of humor.  He loved his family, fishing, gardening and travel.

David is survived by his wife, Nancy (West) Bode; son Bryan (Kristen); daughter Heather (Scott) Tillema; grandchildren, Liliana, Violet and Finnegan; and his siblings, Barbara (Tom) Muller, Phillip (Jan), Mary Ellen Wetherall, Virginia (Tim) Maher, and Kevin.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law, Marcy West, and Star (West) Lemar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Stan and Grace West.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Funeral Mass will be said at 11am, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Interment will be privately held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Animal House Shelter in Huntley, IL.
