David John Fredin, 92, of Lake Barrington Shores, formerly of Cary, passed away on August 18, 2023. He was born in Chicago on March 5, 1931 to Gustaf and Margaret (Erickson) Fredin.
In school, David played baseball and basketball and graduated from Barrington High School class of 1949. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served on an aircraft carrier for over 3 years during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1954, he graduated with a degree in Sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University and furthered his education at Northern Illinois University with a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling. David’s career was largely spent with School District 211 (Palatine) and Hoffman Estates High School.
An avid golfer, David also loved to travel and was able to take many memorable trips, all over the world. He truly enjoyed life and will be missed.
Survivors include his two daughters, Heather (Kurt) Wise and Alison Davis; grandchildren, Gunnar and Annika Wise; and two brothers, Jerry (Joan) Fredin and Philip (Jerri) Fredin.
A visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, from 4pm until a funeral service with military honors at 7pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington.
