David E. Gorski, 30, of Libertyville, IL., formerly of Crystal Lake, IL passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2016. He was born July 31, 1986 in Evanston, IL to James "Jay" and Dolores (nee Sherwood) Gorski.
David was a soft-spoken, kindhearted, and genuine soul. Though he was a man of few words, he was described as a man who “led by his actions and not his words.” David had vast circle of friends and teammates throughout his life. They have spoken so kindly of how great a friend he was to them. His understated sense of humor was the foundation of many of their friendships.
David “Sweet Dave” was an avid softball player and baseball fan. He was especially fond of the Chicago White Sox and the Blackhawks. David was a graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School, McHenry County College, Northern Illinois University, and the Illinois Center for Broadcasting. He was employed by Medline Industries in Mundelein, IL.
David will be deeply missed by his loving parents; his sisters, Carolyn and Rachel; his aunts and uncles, William Sherwood, Jean (Reid) Anderson, John (Beth) Sherwood, Terry Sherwood (Larry Edmonds), Tim (Julie) Sherwood, Carol (Tim) Kane, Kim Sherwood, Greg (Becky) Gorski, John (Laura) Gorski, and Tony (Gail) Sliwa; cousins, Jennifer (Curt) Biron, Robert (Jessica) Gorski, Michael and Anna Gorski, and Daniel and Stephen Sliwa, Greg and Renee Anderson, Bridget, Emmett, and Kevin Kane, Ryan (Liz) Sherwood, Todd (Krissy) Sherwood, Andrew (Calliemae) Sherwood, Meghan, Jack, Maggie, Ann, Marley and Michael Sherwood, Katie (Jesse) Cooper, and Samantha (Casey) Anderson. David is also survived by Mary Sherwood and members of the Ringness, Schnepf, Blake, and Perkins families.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents Edwin and Helen Gorski and John L. "Jack" and Dolores Sherwood.
Memorial visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2017, from 2 to 7PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL. Visitation will resume on Tuesday January 3 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 North First St., Cary, IL at 9:30am. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am. Interment will be private.
