Born January 2, 1941 in Sheboygan, WI, to Rev. John and Margaret (Van Dusseldorp) den Ouden, he passed away peacefully August 11, 2015 in Crystal Lake.
David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning many service medals. He was a devout family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; sports, especially football, and his family home in Zeeland, MI. David was a proud Dutchman who loved dogs, being by the lake, and traveling for business and pleasure.
David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret “Peggy” (nee Rauser) den Ouden; children, David den Ouden of Palatine, IL, and Laurie (Eric) Brents of Algonquin, IL; grandchildren, Derek, Andrew, Grace, Kendall, Kyle, and Victoria; sister, Mary Ann (Clarence II) DeGroot; brother, Paul (Karen) den Ouden, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Thursday, August 13 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, August 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St, Algonquin, where there will be visitation from 10am until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
