David Webster Jr

Born April 18, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, passed away September 18, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

David proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. Following his honorable discharge, David earned his BS and MBA degrees from Adelphi University in New York. He was first employed by Sperry Gyroscope Co. in Great Neck, NY as an electrical design engineer. In 1964, David joined Grumman Aircraft Corp, where he worked for twenty eight years. He held a variety of positions during his career with Grumman, including logistics engineering work on the F-14 Tomcat project in Miramar, California. He concluded his career with Grumman in 1992 as their Regional Midwest Director. David spent the next twenty years as a business consultant to small and mid-sized, family owned businesses.

David was a proud Rotarian for thirty three years, serving as past president of the Des Plaines Rotary Club. As a loyal Scotsman, he enjoyed attending the annual Highland Games.

David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (nee Verity), children; Jennifer (Ed) Tilly, Bonnie (Chris) Luxem, and Amy (Dan) Williams, grandchildren; Eddy, Caroline, Abby, and Eliza, sisters Mary (late Rob) Roy, and Christina (Neil) Sutton, and brother Ronnie (Michelle) Webster. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Christina Webster.

Visitation will be 12pm - 4pm Saturday, September 21 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St, Barrington, with military honors beginning at 4pm. Interment will be private.
