Delfino Sepeda Ochoa, 90, of Algonquin, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Born on December 26, 1934, in Dilley, Texas, to Justo and Sara (Sepeda) Ochoa, Delfino was a natural athlete and a people person from the start. He grew up playing football in Texas before moving to Chicago Heights at 16, where he continued playing the game he loved. His love of sports never faded—whether it was baseball, softball, bowling, or golf, he was always in the game. He even played semi-professional baseball, a true competitor at heart.
On December 15, 1956, he married Marva Schnering in Markham, Il. He worked for Allis Chalmers for 30 years, retiring at age 50—a fact he loved to remind everyone of, since he managed to enjoy more years retired than he spent working! And enjoy life they did.
Delfino never met a stranger. He had a way of striking up conversations and making connections wherever he went. He loved music, dancing, and, most of all, being around people. The last years of his life were spent exactly where he wanted to be—living on the 10th hole of Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin, surrounded by the sport he loved.
He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Marva; his children, Dina (Tim) Beese, Mark (Maribeth) Ochoa, and Jeffery (Tammy) Ochoa; his grandchildren, Daniel (Rachael), David, Dominic, Jeremy, Justin (Jamie), Sarah (Mike), Jake, James, Brandon (Natalie), Brianna, Brent, Brooke, and Brandi; and his great-grandchildren, Julian, Gia, Anthony, Skye, Madi,Taylor, Olivia, Sutton, Adelyn, Thomas, Lennon, and Olivia. He is also survived by his brother, Eddie (Minerva) Ochoa.
Delfino was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua.
A celebration of Delfino’s life will be held at a later date.
