Donald "Don" Lewis

November 17, 1929 — August 6, 2014

Born November 17, 1929 in Chicago, Don Lewis passed away peacefully August 6, 2014 at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was known to have a sharp wit with much to say about many things. He could be so convincing in his argument that one walked away wondering if indeed, he didn’t have a good point. His conversations, especially those most absurd, were followed with a wink, and a twinkle in his eye.

In 1967 Don founded L & V Distributors and was active in the business until the time of his passing. He enjoyed a good game of golf with friends and played throughout his later years. Don loved deeply…his family, his friends, his community and of course, his beloved late wife, Elsie. He often reflected upon her poise, beauty, and unsurpassed Swedish cooking.

Don was extraordinarily generous with his time and treasure, quietly helping many people and organizations through The Donald E. Lewis Family Fund including healthcare assistance, intellectual and developmental disabilities, families facing cancer, disease research, children’s charities, the arts, and support for the blind and vision impaired.

Don is survived by his children, Verner (Debby) Seaquist, Sheryl Seaquist, Donald Lewis, David (Sally) Lewis, Scott (Ann) Seaquist, and Daniel (Mary) Lewis; grandchildren, Krissy (Todd) Sherwood, Max Monroe, Jeannine (Brian) Engh, Sarah (Daniel) Brashear, Mark Seaquist, Brooke Seaquist, Jessica (Adam Setter), and Brian Lewis; great grandchildren, Sean, Riley, Courtney, Quinn, and Victor.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie; parents, Allen and Helen Lewis; brothers, Richard and Robert; and grandson Vernie.

Don is also remembered by many loving family members and dear friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.

Visitation will be 3-9pm Tuesday, August 12 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake.

Funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, August 13 at the funeral home, followed by entombment in Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or JourneyCare Foundation, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010. www.JourneyCare.org.
