Donald ‘Poppy’ L. Schleif, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at his home in Crystal Lake.
Born on November 12, 1936 in Elgin, he was the son of the late Louis and Vera (Archer) Schleif.
Don owned Home Decorating in Crystal Lake for the past 35 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and keyboard, playing solitaire, and fishing but most enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Jordan.
He is survived by his daughter Pamela ‘Pam’ Schleif of Woodstock; his granddaughter Jordan Kohut of Woodstock; Tim Easlick, Pam’s significant other; his sister Carol (Jerry) Horne of Union; sister-in-law Bonnie (Ronnie) Nunes of Woodstock; nieces, Shari (David) Wendt of Woodstock, Susan (Edward) Younger of California, Debra (Chris) Mindham of Hebron, and Cathy (Tony) Furoa of California; nephews, Jeff Horne of Woodstock and Ronald Nunes, Jr. of Crystal Lake; and many loving great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Patsy ‘Patti’ “Meme”
Ann Schleif and his parents.
A memorial visitation will be held 1-3pm, Saturday, May 5 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Donald’s name may be sent to the Crystal Lake Park District, 1 E Crystal Lake Ave, Crystal Lake IL 60014.
