Donald Bert Taylor, 77, of Barrington, IL passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington IL. He was born on Oct. 31, 1932 in Peoria, IL, was raised in Eureka, IL and was a long-time resident of Mendota, IL. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL and served in the US Army stationed in Germany where he met his wife Gisela. They were married for 39 years. He was a retired employee of Del Monte in Mendota where he served as a Union rep and president of the local AFL-CIO. He was preceded in death by his wife Gisela Taylor in 2001. Surviving are his step-son Detlev (Melanie) Ansinn of Bridgman, MI, sons Reinhard (Janette Wanner) Taylor of Barrington Hills, IL, Michael Taylor of Oak Park, IL and Andreas (Shelley) Taylor of Lemont, IL; three grandchildren Benjamin, William, and Jeff Taylor; step-grandchildren Detlev Jr., Paul, Kristi, Alexandra, Monika and Guenther Ansinn; and great-grandson, Hong Taylor. A farewell family gathering will be held on Sat. Oct. 30 at one of his favorite locations, Starved Rock State Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago which he visited often and supported with donations.
