Donald "Pops" Krause

Donald  “Pops” Francis Krause, 75, of Crystal Lake passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022.  He was born in Oak Forest, IL, on October 10, 1946, to Bernard and Patina (Stavron) Krause.

With a passion for animals, Don volunteered countless hours at the Brookfield Zoo. Wolves held a special place in his heart whether that be through research, sponsorship, or adoption. He was a member of the Painted Dogs Sanctuary and the McHenry County Conservation Society.

He will be greatly missed by his son, Doug (Zim) Krause; his former wife, Joan Krause; grandchildren, Keb Grinder, Dylan Krause, Liona, Elena and Sofi Ramadani; and siblings Bernie (Joyce), Patti (Marty) Cusack, Gloria (the late John) Horn, Mary (Vic) Szabo, Joseph (Patty), James (Paula) and the late Bobby (MaryAnn) Krause.

Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Krause.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, from 3pm until the time of a service with military honors at 7pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
