Donna Nylen Smith

Donna Nylen Smith, 71, of Naples, FL, formally of Barrington, IL, passed away November 18, 2018. She was born on May 1, 1947 in Harvey, IL to Merle and Albertice (nee Hansen) Nylen.

Donna received her Associates of Arts degree and worked as a Cytotechnologist at Mercy Hospital in Chicago.  After starting a family she became a business owner of The Palatine News Agency as well as the Grog Shop in Schaumburg, IL.  She spent many wonderful years as a member of Biltmore Country Club and Garden Club.  She loved to play golf and bridge with her friends, as well as travel, dance and sing.  Her smile would make you smile, her laughter was infectious and had a heart of gold.

Donna was united in marriage to Leon Smith on November 16, 1968. They celebrated 49 years of marriage until his passing on October 19, 2018.

Donna will be joyfully remembered by her loving sons, Christopher (CJ) and Steven (Stacy Siciliano); grandchildren, Connor Lee, Tyler David, Cameron Andrew, and Kaitlyn Elizabeth; sisters, Judy Stary and Karen Swidergal.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death with her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2018, from 5 PM until 9 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 1, from 9 AM until the 10 AM funeral service at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
