Doris Lorraine (Barber) Navik

Doris Lorraine Navik, 96, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2019. She was born on May 18, 1922 in South Bend, IN to Lawrence and Christina (nee Bachtel) Barber.

Doris was a long time member of Northbrook Village Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon, Stephen Minister Neighborhood Caregiver, Pastor’s secretary’s assistant for 12 years and Chancel Bell Choir for 11 years. She was also a charter member for the Friendship League of Northbrook.

She was President of the Pittsford, NY Garden Club, and in 1966 she was President of the Northbrook Garden Club for 8 years and secretary for 6 years. She was also a member of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra for 5 years and League of Women Voters.

Doris will be joyfully remembered by her loving children, Ronald W. Navik of Asheville, NC, Roger L. Navik of Gilbert, AZ, and Lance K. Navik of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren, Paul Navik, Judith Navik, Camille Grigsby, Julia Gutierrez, Andrew Navik, Peter Navik, Shawna Navik, and Jennifer Odle; great-grandchildren, Savanna Shaver, Makayla and Amelia Grigsby, Harper and David Gutierrez, Naomi, and Kiana and Damon Odle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Navik on November 9, 1997 and by her parents.
