Doris A. Sleger, 86, of Barrington, formerly of Wauconda and other Northwest suburbs, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. She was born on December 25, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI to Herbert and Ella (nee Mester) Quade.
Doris was employed by Imperial Kniting in Milwaukee and also by Flick-Reedy. She enjoyed water color painting, fishing, spending time with her family and wintering in Ft. Meyers, FL.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Paul Harvey Sleger, with whom she was united in marriage on June 18, 1949 at St. Paul Church in Manitowoc, WI. In addition to her husband, Doris is also survived by her children, Paul (Diane) Sleger, Jr., Lynn (Lowell) Stone, Al (Gloria Berlanga) Sleger, Laura (Gary) Stromberg, Rich (Vickie) Sleger and Debbie (Dennis) Grewe; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and her nephews, Bruce (Betty) and Mike (Joni) Backes
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Dorothy Manke and by her parents.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 8, from 3 PM until 8PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. A second visitation will be held on Monday, November 9 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets) Barrington, IL 60010 starting at 9 AM until the funeral mass at 10 AM. Interment will be private.
