Dorothy Jane Adler (nee Barrett), 94, of Island Lake, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 6, 2017.
She was born February 6, 1923 to the late Patrick William and Anna Veronica (nee Mackey) Barrett.
Dorothy will be remembered as a woman full of love and laughter; she gave her gift of joy to all who knew her. Professionally, she was a teacher and formerly a stewardess, but mostly she loved the water, passing on her passion to her six children. Most of all, Dorothy’s strong Catholic faith was her foundation.
Dorothy was the loving mother to her children, William (Deborah), Joseph, Paul (Becky), Mary Anne (Curt) Miller, Rose Marie, and Dorothy Jane (Hendricus) Baaij; beloved grandmother to Lynette Anne, Monica Mary, Paula Elizabeth (Joseph), Sareya Barrett (Jean Paul), Alexander William; great-grandmother to Mason William; and sister-in-law to Doris Barrett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Adler; infant son, William; and her siblings, Rose Marie, Mary Virginia, and William.
The visitation will be held Saturday, November 11, at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 316 W Mill St, Wauconda, IL 60084, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine, IL.
