Dorothy Giambi

Crystal Lake, Illinois,Dorothy S. Giambi nee Schons Dorothy S. Giambi nee Schons, 73, of Crystal Lake entered eternal life on Monday, December 6, 2010 at her home. Born October 3, 1937 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Theodore and Lillian Schons. Her first job was a teletype operator in Chicago where she advanced to secretary to the Vice President of the company. From there she went to work for Medline as an executive secretary, at Sara Lee Corp. as a secretary to the Vice President, and finally at Kraft Foods as an executive secretary, retiring in 2002. Following retirement, she worked part-time at Coldwater Creek in the Commons. She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake and also belonged to a gourmet cooking club. Traveling and gardening were great loves but her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Her survivors include her beloved husband, Norm Giambi, her loving children, James (Jennifer) Mills and Katy (Steve) Miller; her precious grandsons, Geoffrey and Glenn Miller; her dear sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schons, Corlis Schons and Irene Schons; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers, Ray, Ken and Clarence. The visitation will begin at 10am, Thursday, December 9, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt 176), Crystal Lake with Funeral Prayers at 12:20 pm. All will then proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm. Interment will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
