Born November 21, 1914 in Elgin, Dorothy A. Groeninger passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at JourneyCare in Barrington.
Dorothy was a graduate of Elgin High School and lived in Elgin until 1972, where she was a past officer of Lady of the Moose. She lived with her husband in Iowa from 1972 until they moved to Crystal Lake in 1982. Dorothy was an active bowler up to the age of 83 and was an outstanding cook and baker. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Robert) Holub, and N. Ann (Shel) Luck; daughter-in-law, Becky Groeninger; grandchildren, Marnie (Steve) Hooghkirk, Cindy (John) Jordan, Lori (Sean) Carson, and Rick (Trish) Groeninger; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Barch, Bryan Hooghkirk, Jereme (Ashley) Groeninger, Hanah Groeninger, Cassidy Carson, and Kalynn Groeninger; great-great grandson Landon Barch; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Joe; son David; sisters, Margaret (Lloyd) Blank and Leona (Murrel) Vinecore; brother, Robert Fierke; and parents, Elmer and Martha Fierke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am, Monday November 3 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake, with visitation from 10am until the time of the mass. Burial in Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery in Elgin will follow mass.
