The funeral service for Dorothy Virginia Homburg (nee Stoeffler), 91, a 53-year resident of Streamwood, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 7th, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

There will be a visitation from 4-9 p.m., Thursday, March 6th, at the funeral home.

Born April 20, 1922, in Providence, RI, to the late Charles and Edna (nee Morris) Stoeffler, she passed from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, February 28, 2014, at Lexington of Streamwood, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Homburg was a secretary at Remington Rand for 14 years, after which she lovingly cared for her family, raising their daughters alongside her husband, John. She then went on to work as a medical transcriber for 16 years. Inquisitive and eager to learn, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, research, playing board games and flower gardening. Mrs. Homburg was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, American Bible Society, and was a former deaconess and Sunday School teacher at her Baptist church.

Loving mother of daughters Jeannette (John) Luby, Virginia Homburg, and Judith (Steve) Holland; beloved grandmother to grandchildren, Christina (Rob) Mauer, Candice (T.J. Myelle) Nambo, Sharon (Edward) Burns, Jillian Holland, Jessica (Eric) Beringer, and Lucas Holland; great-grandchildren, Michael Trenkler, Samantha Mauer, Dominic Nambo, Alexis Burns, Tyler Burns, Jake Burns, Xander Beringer, and Gabriela Saucedo; and cherished sister of Jeanne (Paul) Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, John Homburg in 2000; and infant sister, Marion Stoeffler.
