Dorothy Kay, age 94, of Crystal Lake, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
She was born March 29, 1919 in Bristol, Rhode Island to John and Theresa Medeiros. On November 24, 1952, Dorothy would marry George J. Kay in Chicago. Dorothy spent her time working as the store manager for Lilyann’s Clothing Store in Crystal Lake. She loved to sew, especially clothing for her granddaughter’s dolls. As an avid Chicago Cubs fan, keeping track of every game, Dorothy would write every game’s score on her calendar. She had a good month when the Cubs had more wins than losses.
Dorothy will be missed by her children, Toni (Robert) Middleton, Arnie (Marilyn) Kay, and Bruce (Barbara) Kay; her 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters.
A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fair Oaks Health Care Center, 471 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
