Dorothy Marie Lee,97, of Fox River Grove, passed away Sunday, February 19,2012, peacefully at her home. She was born on March 18,1914, to Joseph and Marie Ryan in Chicago.
Dorothy married Jack on November 10, 1938 in Chicago; they were together for 55 years. They lived in Chicago, Franklin Park, and Mayslake Village of Oak Brook. After Jack passed away, Dorothy moved in with her son Ed and daughter-in-law, Linda to Fox River Grove in 2006. She became a member at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cary, and a member of the Fox RiverGrove Seniors club.
Dorothy made many close friends when she was at Mayslake Village, volunteering for different activities; including being the watch captain over the seniors on her floor. Some of her favorite things to do while at Mayslake, and the F.R.G. Seniors club, were traveling, attending plays and musicals. In later years her greatest joys were her grandchildren and13 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her loving son, Edward J. (Linda)Lee; grandchildren, Scott (Leah) Lee, Debra (Gregory) Ryan; step grandchildren, Douglas (Diane) Murray, Carol (Robert) Cain; great grandchildren, Brett, Sean, and Eric Lee, Kelsey, Lauren, and Aimee Ryan, Mia, Wesley, and Brynn Cain,Tyler, Brandon, Logan, and Jaclyn Murray; her sister, Margaret (Frank) Zeman; and many, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Lee; son, Bro. Robert E. Lee OSM; sister, Eleanor (John) Frain; brother, Edward (Theresa)Ryan, and her parents.
Visitation will be from 3-9p.m., Wednesday, February 22,2012, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL60010, and Thursday, February 23,2012, from 9:30a.m., until the time of mass at 10:30a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul, 410 North First Street, Cary, IL 60013.
Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, in River Grove, IL following the mass.
Her family would like to thank Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, for all their kindness and care to make her last days comforting ones.
