Dorothy Neuman, 104, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; formerly of the Chicagoland area, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 26, 2024. She was born on February 19, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois to Roy and Helen Kuby.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Delores Seeler; grandchildren, Laura (Joe) Kalcsits, Steve (Lori) Seeler, Lorri (Chris Lanza) Fisher, Leslie (Michael Wojnarowski) Fisher, Jeff (Jessica) Fisher; great-grandchildren, Linda (Ryan) Winterfeldt, Jenna Kalcsits, John Kalcsits, Nick Kalcsits; Kayla (Mason) Kaczmarek, Syd Mark, Ryan Mark, Jeffrey Wojnarowski, Soren Fisher, and Ivy Fisher; great-great grandchildren, Hailey, Jacob, Brooklyn, Daniel and Lilith; sister, Anita Wierzbinski. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Val Neuman; her children, Elaine Grady and Joseph Fisher; and her siblings, Ralph and Lavern Kuby.
When asked, Dorothy did not attribute her impressive longevity to any particular diet or any well-kept secrets but had always stayed active, regularly exercised, and was a very independent woman. When she was younger, she enjoyed swimming, shopping with her daughters, taking her grandkids by train to Chicago to see the holiday windows, hosting holiday gatherings, going to the movies, and traveling; her favorite place she once visited was Hawaii. She started to slow down when she hit the age of 100 and then spent her days watching her favorite TV shows NCIS and Blue Bloods while enjoying hot dog sandwiches, ice cream cones, and ginger ale, the “elixir of life”.
Graveside services will be held privately at Irving Park Cemetery.
