Douglas Koski

November 30, 1966 — June 4, 2014

Douglas M. Koski, 47, died, Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

When a life is measured by how many other lives it impacts, the influences left by Doug Koski will continue to be immeasurable. As the father of daughters Maya and Lia Koski, Doug's love and concern for his girls was his top priority. As a long time teacher at Stevenson High School, Doug touched the hearts and minds of countless students with an intellect and engaging wit that was as unique as it was entertaining. As a communication arts teacher, he was a multi-faceted educator in creative writing, journalism, political thought, media analysis and film genres. In addition, he found time to coach debate teams as well as writing clubs and film clubs. What he taught went beyond just curriculum, as he ended many a class by telling his students “remember you are loved.”

Doug is survived by his beloved daughters Maya and Lia, sister Missy, his parents Kenneth and Marjorie Koski, loving nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ken Jr. and David.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maya and Lia Koski Education Fund, c/o Barrington Bank and Trust Company, 201 South Hough St., Barrington, IL 60010.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
