There will be a semi-private remembrance for Douglas E. Thompson, Jr., 85, and Jean D. Thompson, 85, held at Chessie's/111 Grille from 1 PM to 4 PM on Saturday July 31, 2010. If you were a friend or acquaintance of Doug or Jean over the 55 years they were in Barrington, please feel free to stop in. Born May 2, 1925, in Chicago, he passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at his home. Mr. Thompson worked in food the food service industry from 1952 through 1988 and held many positions from sales management to president of Fearn International?a subsidiary of Kellogg?s. He was also a former Air Force flight officer. Mr. Thompson enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and was a former president of the Barrington Hills Riding Club. Survivors include his children, Douglas E. Thompson III (Mary Beth) and Roy E. Thompson (Cathy); grandchildren, Brian (Natasha), Molly, Scott, Kevin, and Hannah Thompson; great-grandson, Ian Thompson; brother Robert Thompson; step sister-in-law, Betty Gaylord; many loyal friends and associates; and all those who provided excellent health care for he and his wife for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (nee Davidson) Thompson (10/10/2008); and parents, Douglas E. and Lulu (nee Potter) Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Thompson's name may be made to the cancer charity of one's choice.
