H. Michael Cody, 51, of Cary, IL passed away Monday, April 30, surrounded by his family. He was born September 22, 1966 in Colorado Springs, CO to Howard and Carol Cody.
Michael graduated from Harry A. Burke High School in Omaha, NE and went on to play football and baseball at the University of Nebraska Omaha. He eventually transferred and graduated from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL. Michael found his calling in life as he graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport,IA and opened Cody Chiropractic Wellness Center in Fox River Grove, specializing in pediatrics. There, he was able to serve thousands of patients by educating and treating each person with love and purpose. While working and growing his practice, Michael was presented with many opportunities to take his knowledge and expertise to a wider audience. He often hosted free educational programs for patients and was able to serve as the official chiropractor for NBA referees at the United Center in Chicago.
Michael had a profound passion for all things sports and remained devoted to his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers throughout his entire life. He also loved his Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs.
It was after Mike’s leukemia diagnosis that he needed to redirect some of that time and passion to his battle against his disease - a battle he fought and persevered through for 3 years. The family is eternally grateful for the loving, intelligent care he received throughout his journey – especially at the University of Chicago hospital.
Michael is survived by his children, John, Jake and Bella; his parents, Howard and Carol Cody of Cary; his sisters, Mindy Garis (Tim) of Crystal Lake, IL and Merry Sieck (Tim) of Huntley, IL; and nieces and nephews Mackenzie, Keegan, Cody, Avery and Carter.
