Dr. Sol B. Daya, 85 of Crystal Lake, IL, was born on April 6, 1936 in San Pablo City, Laguna Province, Philippines, to the late Dr. Francisco and Paciana Daya, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 27, 2021. Sol is survived by his wife, Helen, of 47 years; his children, Hazel (Cory) Welch, and Chris (Carissa) Daya; his granddaughter, Adella Ilg Daya; his brothers, Efren (Myrna), Mario (Eva), and Nilo (Edna) Daya; and sister-in-law, Lily Daya: as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dario Daya.
Sol will be remembered as a committed, selfless surgeon who tirelessly dedicated his life to taking care of his family, friends and patients. Putting the needs of others before his own, he was the last person to take credit but the first to help out. He took great pride in caring for multiple familial generations in his medical practice for over 40 years. He was a ballroom dancer who loved to tango and would spend weekends detailing the family cars.
