Duane "Oly" Olson

Duane L. “Oly” Olson passed away at his home on September 26, 2020.  He was 80 years old.

Duane was born on March 24, 1940 in Iola, Wisconsin the son of Thomas and Mamie Olson. He lived on the family farm in Iola until relocating to Milwaukee where he worked as a car salesman. He later moved to Neenah, Wisconsin where his career in the paper industry began. In 1972, Duane and his family relocated to Glendale Heights, Illinois, he later settled in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Duane was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed beekeeping, golfing, hunting, and fishing.

Duane is survived by his wife Pauline (nee Turner); his three children, Debby (John) Shaffrey, Lynn (Patrick) Kerrigan, and Jeff (Gena) Olson; his seven grandchildren, Ryan and Caitlin Shaffrey, Riley, Colin and Vaughn Kerrigan, and Connor and Sydney Olson. He was further loved by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives both in the United States and England. Lastly, Oly loved and was loved by his constant companion, Boozer.

Duane was preceded in death by his brother, Ellery Olson and Ellery’s wife Elaine Olson.

A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake.
