Eddie was born June 5, 1922 in Ames, Iowa, the son of Edward and Henrietta (nee Sheldahl) Helland. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Barrington, IL surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie received his Business Degree from Drake University in Des Moines where he also played basketball. He was drafted into the United States Army during WWII where he served in the Occupation Force in Berlin. Following his service, he worked for Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa. Later he returned to Cambridge to carry on the family farm business. When he wasn’t busy tending to the farm, Eddie enjoyed dancing with his wife at the Val Air and Lake Robbins Ballrooms.
Eddie was the loving father of Jan (the late Michael) Bevilacqua and Jill (Paul) Renze; dear grandfather of Chris (Roberta) Heintz, Cortney (Chris) Adams, Katie (Joe) Reginaldi, Ben Renze, and Will Renze; and cherished great-grandfather of eight, nieces Rhana Kelderman and Toni Tebbet.
He was the loving and devoted husband of Elaine, who preceded him in death in 2013.
Services were privately held at Davenport Family Funeral Home in Barrington, Illinois with interment at Fjeldberg Lutheran Cemetery in Huxley.
