Edward John Connelly, Jr., 88, of Lake Barrington passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020. He was born in Chicago to the late Edward and Mary Connelly.
Fascinated by his mother playing the piano, Ed started playing at the age of 6. A love that carried through his whole life, Ed made a career out of music.
A graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, DePaul University and University of Illinois, Ed went on to get his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado.
From 1960 through 1998, Ed taught music at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas where he built a reputation as a respected and admired music teacher. The Edward Connelly Keyboard Scholarship fund was established in 1998 in his name to honor his love and dedication to music and students.
Four years ago, Ed moved to Lake Barrington Woods to be closer to family. He enjoyed the friendly and caring atmosphere there and performed well-received monthly piano recitals for the residents.
Ed was kind hearted and cherished his family and students. He will forever remain in our hearts.
Ed is survived by his brother Robert (Norine) Connelly; nephew James (Kimberly) Connelly; and great-nephews Jack and Cole.
