Edward Laga, Sr.

Edward Laga Sr., 88, formerly of Elk Grove Village, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022.   He was born in Chicago on July 9, 1933 to August and Mary (Kucharski) Laga.

On June 14, 1958, Ed married the love of his life, Marianne Irmen.   Together they raised 5 children and as the years went on they happily watched their family grow.   Ed’s happiest times were with his family and spending time at his lake house in Wisconsin.   Ed enjoyed his time as a youth baseball coach, his years as an officer in Jaycee’s, and cheering on his Chicago Bears and White Sox. He loved to fish and craft and could often be found at craft fairs with Marianne during the holidays selling their homemade products. Ed was a Die Room Manager at Field Container for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marianne; children Ed Laga Jr., Tim Laga, Vivian (Mark) Ennis, Kevin (Nancy) Laga, and Susan (Roy) Porter; grandchildren, Brandon (Crystal), Michael (Kari), and Kory (Lydia) Laga, Mitch and Eileen Ennis, Shane (Ashley), Jameson, Ally and Connor Laga, Hayley Moriarty, Kendra and Ryan Porter;  and great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Madison, Caleb, Aubrey, Benjamin, Amber and Peyton.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann Butler.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb 2, from 4 until 8 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.   Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 3, with a visitation to begin at 9:30 am at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 First St., Cary.

Burial will be held privately at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
