Edward J. Lee, 71, of Fox River Grove, was born on May 17, 1944 in Franklin Park to John “Jack” and Dorothy Lee. He passed away from cancer on Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Fox River Grove.

Edward was raised in Franklin Park and was a graduate of East Leyden High School. He moved to Fox River Grove in 1999 and was employed as a firefighter, paramedic, police officer then a Sgt. Detective for 27 years. He eventually retired from a career in public safety in Rosemont. Ed loved his family, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed music, especially the band Journey. He also had a gift of playing the guitar, keyboard and piano and did so with his band, the Norwood Street Band. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cary. Ed was a big fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. He played hockey for many years after high school. He was a great carpenter, cook and master chef on the grill. He will be dearly missed.

Ed is survived by his first wife Karen Lee; his second wife of 22 years, Linda (nee Cattani) Lee; his children, Scott (Leah) Lee, Debra (Greg) Ryan; step-children, Carol (Robert) Cain, and Douglas (Diane) Murray; his grandchildren, Brett, Sean, Eric, Kelsey, Lauren, Aimee; step-grandchildren, Mia, Wesley, Brynn, Tyler, Brandon, Logan, and Jaclyn; many cousins, friends, and his beloved pet, Molly.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Lee; and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 3pm until 8pm, Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 1pm, meeting at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 N. First St., Cary, IL 60012. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or JourneyCare Hospice, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010.
