Eleanor Haugen Ward, long-time resident of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the age of 99.

She was born September 6, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Adolph and Alpha (nee Johnson) Haugen.

Eleanor grew up in Chicago, later moving to Oak Park, Illinois.  She worked as a bookkeeper, bank teller, and bank vault supervisor.  After retirement, she and her mother moved to Crystal Lake, where they became devoted members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed sewing and many different types of needlework and other crafts and entertaining her family and friends.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Lois Popp; her grandchildren, Timothy (Elena) Popp, Karen (Brian) Crow and Jason (Arvin) Klein-Mendoza; her great-grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Popp, Sarah and Robert Crow; her nephew, Alan (Mary) Haugen, her niece, Janet (John) Cederlund, and many grand-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Klein; son-in-law, Robert Popp; brother, Norman Haugen and his wife Berdette; her niece, Norinne Haugen Murphy, and her former husband, Robert Ward.

Services were held privately.  Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date when we can again congregate.
