Elizabeth Giangrossi

Elizabeth M. “Liz” Giangrossi,85, of Barrington, passed away, Saturday, February 18,2012, in Barrington.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church, Barrington.

Burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery,Palatine, privately.

She was born on August 13,1926, to Franz Xaver and Anna Haefner, in Esslingen, Germany.

Liz married Philip Giangrossi on April 18, 1950 in Elmhurst, they enjoyed 18 years together. During her school years she was a member of the National Honor Society. She was an avid reader throughout her life.  Liz worked as a secretary in the private sector and later in fashion retail sales. She always cherished the time that she spent with her family; including her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Liz is survived by her loving children, Paul F. Giangrossiof Streamboat Springs, CO, David M. (Patricia) Giangrossi of Barrington,Barbara M. (Robert) Smith of Barrington, Mark P. (Barbara) Giangrossi of Wayzata, MN, and Kenneth P. Giangrossi of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Adam (Dana) Smith, Anthony R. (Christine) Giangrossi, Nicole (William) Mullins, Nicholas F.Smith, Angela, Ashley, Ross and Andrew Giangrossi; great grandchildren, Oliviaand Vaughn Smith, Luciano Giangrossi, and two additional great grandchildren expected in April and July; sister, Frances Lemke; and brother, Paul Haefner.

She was preceded in death by her husband Philip; son, Donald R. Giangrossi, and brother, Eugene Haefner.
