Elizabeth was born to Salvador and Rosina Theresa Pistone in La Lucila, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Elizabeth married Henry Medina on June 9, 1956. She and Henry moved to the United States in 1962 and served as home missionaries with the Southern Baptist Convention in Texas, Michigan, and Illinois. She lived her last 41 years in Libertyville, Illinois. In addition to being a supportive pastor’s wife, she ministered to many people in the local church and abroad. She also worked at Baxter Healthcare as a Foreign Patent Administrator for 27 years until her retirement in 2007.
Most importantly, Elizabeth lovingly poured into the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her main passions were spending time with family and sharing the love of Christ. She made it a priority to attend her grandkids’ shows, games, recitals, college drop-offs, and graduations. She listened to everyone’s hard stories, prayed for them, and always checked back with that person. She prayed A LOT! Elizabeth loved to travel and held the family together by coordinating family retreats/reunions and hosting an annual Christmas party with Father Christmas. She never forgot a birthday and took her loved ones on dates to celebrate. She drove until she was 90 years old and was savvy with her smart phone to frequently stay in touch with people all over the world.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Henry and firstborn son. She is survived by her children: Beth (Dan) Cox, Gayle (Skip) Gianopulos, Ruth (Eric) Littauer, Nathan (Christine) Medina, and Bethel (Adam) Gascho. She was affectionately known as “Grammy” to her grandkids: Alex, Lauren, Alissa, Andrew, Stephanie, Jessica, Allison, Cassidy, Rebecca, Rachel, Bethany, Courtney (Blake), Nicole, Connor, Austin, Ashley, Ethan, Jeremy, Joseph, Jacob, Mariah, and Jeremiah. She was also a great-grandmother to Ashlynn with one more on the way.
