Elizabeth Ann Smith

Elizabeth Ann Smith, 57, of Wonder Lake, was born May 6, 1960 in Waukegan, Illinois to Roland and Patricia (Webb) Smith. She passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 16, 2017.

Elizabeth (Betty) left us to soon, but she left behind a life time of memories for those of us that knew her and loved her. With her quick wit and great sense of humor, she left us with the memories of her laughter and her caring heart. For those in need she shared her wisdom and whatever else she had to give in those times of need.

Liz was a long-haul truck driver for the past 19 years. She was in the forefront of women truckers, especially considering her choice of cargo; hazardous material "hazmat". As a long-haul trucker Liz was frequently on the road but still found time for her family and friends.

Liz's other interest's besides camping and hiking were a recent love of 4 wheeling, and she made time for gardening and was an avid reader and Liz always seemed to notice the unusual; things that most people would overlook in our daily lives.

Betty had a love of animals which includes her 3 rescue dogs and 2 cats, she also enjoyed her tropical fish.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 2-5:30pm at Christian Fellowship Church, 3419 Walkup Road, Crystal Lake.

Elizabeth Ann Smith is survived by her children; Kathy Bowden and Bill Bowden; her grandchildren, Maxwell, Zachary, and Zoe Bowden; and her siblings; Mike (Chris) Smith and Janet (Otto) Georgie and has been proceeded in death by her brother, Tony Smith and her parents Roland and Patricia Smith.
