Elizabeth “Betty” Babyar (née Santoro) passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021 in Barrington IL surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on October 27, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Nicholas and Elizabeth Santoro (née Costanzo). She was raised by her loving parents whose home was the gathering place for Sunday dinners and celebrations with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Betty attended Providence High School and later married and moved to the western suburbs to raise her three children.
Betty had a fulfilling career as a professional administrative assistant followed by volunteer work in her retirement years. Betty was an active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed entertaining, cooking, theatre, sewing, writing poetry, reading, her home and her neighborhood.
Betty is survived by her children, Pamela (Darin) Delaney, Steven (Jeanne) Cliff, and Alison (Tim) Sweeton; stepchildren, Christopher (Laura) Babyar and Kimberly Babyar; grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas Delaney; Joseph, Brian and Julia Spino; Hannah and Caroline Cliff; William “Billy”, Marylisa, and Brody Babyar; and her sister, Virginia Castronovo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth Santoro; her husband of 36 years, Robert; first husband, Earl Cliff; a brother, Nicholas; and her sister, Mary Grace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, May 15 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street in St Charles, IL. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside will be private.
