Ellen Anderson

The visitation for Ellen McCarthy Anderson (nee Hoppe), 93, will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Friday, January 6, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be in Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Born May 27, 1918, in Cicero to the late Louis and Emma (nee Jeschke), she passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at her home.

Ellen worked at the Bob and Betty Shop in downtown Barrington for many years and was a member of the Country Home and Garden Club and a long-time, active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children, John (Jayne) McCarthy of Scottsdale, AZ and Joanne “Dee Dee” (Mike) Gollwitzer of Laguna Hills, CA; grandchildren, Carter and Jaymee McCarthy and Ashley and Jenny Gollwitzer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husbands, John McCarthy and Jack Anderson; and siblings, Carolyn Grant, Vera Young, and Louis and Frederick Hoppe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ellen’s name may be to the Church.
