Mary Ellen Condill, 80, of Barrington passed away peacefully on August 13, 2017 at JourneyCare in Barrington. She was born on December 19, 1936 in Mason City, Iowa to George and Catherine (nee Grady) Harrer.
Ellen was a teacher and taught in Palatine, Fox River Grove and Cary, and retired in 1995. She was active at Saint Anne’s Church, where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, wedding coordinator, REP and RCIA. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge and never met a crossword puzzle she could not solve. She was united in marriage to James B. Condill, Sr. on December 19, 1960 at Saint Anne Church in Barrington.
In addition to her husband, Ellen is survived by her loving children, J.B., Jeffrey Condill, Courtney (Ray) Peterson, and Devyn (John) Kelly; grandchildren, Grady, Jacob, Zachary, Cooper, Brennan Condill ; brother, Jerry (Joann) Harrer; and by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Katie Kislia, Dorothy Wallace, Bob and Don Harrer.
Memorial Mass will be Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11 AM at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela St. (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.) Barrington. The family will receive friends from 9 AM until the time of the mass. Private interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
