Visitation for Erik Edward Roos, 95, of Arlington Heights will be held Friday, March 20th, from 10:30am until the time of the funeral service at 12:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Born September 1, 1919 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Aage Edward and Lily (nee Imm) Roos, who immigrated to the United States in 1921, died Monday, March 16, 2015, in Arlington Heights.
Erik received his degree with honors in Business Administration from Northwestern University where he also did graduate work in management and finance. He had many years of business experience as a corporate officer and sales executive for several major companies as well as a management consultant and small business owner.
During World War II he was a pilot in the U.S. Navy and an administrative officer in the Naval Transport Service.
Erik married Mildred Olsen on April 28, 1944. In 1957 they moved to Barrington where Erik had a long record of involvement with the Barrington Area Library. He served on the Board of Trustees from 1974 to 1983. He was also fond of barbershop harmony and was active in two singing groups.
Erik is survived by a sister, Marion Ibbotson, many nieces, one nephew, and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2010, his parents, an infant sister, a great-nephew, and his brother-in-law.
